Mint Julep

 

The signature cocktail of the Kentucky Derby, it’s imperative that you use exquisite bourbon and fresh mint when making a Mint Julep.
Metal tumblers packed with ice are key, too.

Elements

12-14 FRESH MINT LEAVES

1 TEASPOON SIMPLE SYRUP

4 OUNCES KENTUCKY BOURBON

2-3 MINT SPRIGS

LEMON TWIST, OPTIONAL

Directions

  1. Muddle the mint leaves and simple syrup in the bottom of a chilled julep cup or old-fashioned glass. 

  2. Fill a glass with combination of ice and crushed ice, add bourbon, and stir until the glass is frosty.

  3. Garnish with the mint sprigs and lemon peel, if desired.
