Classic Martini

A Classic Martini, not to be mistaken for a vodka martini, should be savored and properly prepared. If you’re a lover of gin, I highly recommend Dolin or Tanqueray.

Elements

ICE

2 OUNCES GIN

1/2 OUNCE DRY VERMOUTH

LEMON TWIST OR GREEN COCKTAIL OLIVE(S)

Directions

  1. Stir the gin and vermouth in a mixing glass with ice; strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

  2. Run the lemon peel around the rim, twist to release the oils into the drink, and drop it in; or simply add the olives to the drink.

A dirty gin martini includes 1/2 of the brine from the cocktail olives.

TIP: Present your guest(s) with their Classic Martini by holding the stem of their glass, not the bowl, so as to not warm the cocktail with your body heat nor tarnish the frosted appearance. Yeah, it matters.
